Monday 29 July Club – Championships Start
The first Club Championships were held between 29th July 2019 and 29th September 2019.

It was hoped that all semi-final matches would be completed by Saturday 28th September 2019 and that the Finals would be held on Sunday, 29th September 2019. However, the weather scuppered these plans and eventually it was decided to extend the period for playing the semi-finals and very, sadly, Finals Day was cancelled and finalists were asked to play their matches by 8 November.

Off court there was a bouncy castle, a home-made cake stall, strawberries and cream and squash, tombola, face painting, biscuit decorating and ‘bin the ball’.
As a promotion we offered a 3 month Summer Adult and Family Membership and signed up 11 new memberships plus 2 annual children’s memberships. It was a very successful afternoon and everyone worked together to make it a perfect afternoon. It was a great team effort.

Sunday 8 July – Open Day
In conjunction with the LTA’S Great British Tennis Weekend we held our very first Open Day on Sunday 8 July. The weather was beautiful with wall to wall sunshine. The stall dispensing free squash did a very brisk trade. Members baked scones and these were served with jam and cream. Also available, in true Wimbledon style, were strawberries and cream.
The children’s tombola very nearly sold out and the bouncy castle was a firm favourite. Our face painter, Glenn, produced some wonderful faces of spiderman, tigers, butterflies and bats.
The coaches, Phil, Howard, Sallie and Gaz were kept busy all afternoon and as a result we are hoping to be welcoming new members to the club. It was fantastic to see so many children on the courts having fun.
It was truly a successful day and hopefully this will become an Annual Event.

Charles Hanson filled the room with his larger than life personality and, without doubt, helped raise the price of lots. He also very kindly offered 6 people the opportunity to attend Bargain Hunt which contributed an extra £400 to the fund.
However, the biggest thanks must go to all the businesses and individuals who donated Promises and to all those people who purchased tickets and so generously spent their money on the night. A special thanks must go to Paul and Jo Wilson at Melbourne Print who sponsored all the printing for this event.
